Colorado Official Background Checks
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation's Internet Criminal History Check gives the public a Colorado-only, name-based result. It draws from criminal history reported to CBI, not from every local ticket or unlinked court file. Juvenile arrests, arrests for traffic events when the person was under sixteen, and sealed arrests do not appear in public results. A common name and birth date may yield several candidates, each charged as a separate result.

The online report cannot be notarized. A person who needs to inspect and challenge their own fingerprint-supported Colorado record should follow CBI's record-review process and obtain fingerprints through Colorado Applicant Background Services vendors.

Colorado separates general public records from criminal justice records. The Colorado Open Records Act governs many county administrative files. The Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act governs inspection and release by police, sheriff, jail, and other criminal justice agencies. Court access also follows Judicial Branch rules and orders. Public access does not mean every record is online or that every requested part must be released.

A victim indexed in the report does not pay the search and copy fee. Juvenile booking photos are withheld unless the youth was charged as an adult and the requester supplies court proof. These limits protect material that is not open merely because an arrest occurred.
